HOPE, British Columbia, the former reality TV star Ryan Jenkins, accused of killing his swimsuit model wife, was found dead Sunday in a motel in British Columbia, Canadian police said.
Sgt. Duncan Jenkins of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Jenkins apparently committed suicide, The Vancouver Sun reported. He had checked into a motel in Hope, about 100 miles east of Vancouver.
"The hotel staff had gone in to check on him ... it would be speculation to say how long he had been in there," Pound said at a news conference.
Jasmine Fiore, 28, a swimsuit model, was found dead and stuffed into a suitcase in a dumpster in Buena Park, Calif., Aug. 15. Her fingers and teeth had been removed and she was identified by her breast implants.
Fiore and Jenkins married two days after meeting at a Las Vegas casino. He was charged with domestic abuse in June in Nevada.
Jenkins, a native of Calgary, was a contestant on "Megan Wants a Millionaire," a VH1 reality show currently being televised, and also appeared on the third season of "I Love Money." VH1 had put a hold on plans to air the show because of the charges against Jenkins.
A man arrested in Toronto, once thought to be Jenkins, is not the man wanted in the slaying of a model, officials said. Peel Regional Police Staff Sgt. Keith Brodie told Sunday's The Province the detainee's fingerprints did not match those of Jenkins.
Guess Jenkins won't get to be a millionare afterall...
